Girgashiy Raid

The Girgashiy Raid is the first introduction to Mabinogi’s Raid System. Unlike the more public raids such as Sylvan, Mokkurkalfi, and others it follows a rather simple mechanic and the amount of people who can take one down at any one time is limited to 16. The fight itself is really simple the basic sequence is to have someone use Shield of Trust when Girgashiy prepares to jump for Mineral Hail. Then when he lands and is stunned have another member use Celestial Spike to bind him which will cause him to collapse and extend his stun time. Then your blader will use Judgment Blade to deal a larger chunk of damage while his defenses are down.

Roughly every 40 seconds in the fight Girgashiy will single that he’s about to use Mineral Hail which he begins with a pushback attack before hopping the the air and dropping Mineral Hail on you.

Shield of Trust

It’s during the start of this pushback start up that the “Shielder(s)” will need to prepare and use the Shield of Trust skill. When done successfully, up to 2 other Squad Members will be protected from the damaging effect of the Mineral Hail attack saving them from extra damage, outright dying, and failing the raid if enough people have died. You’ll also be stuck waiting another round to damage Girgashiy if no one shields at all. Failing the timing can also happen and lead to one of those previously mentioned results. SO DONT MISS THE TIMING! no pressure :D

If you use the shield of trust in time you’ll put Girgashiy into a stun phase as shown below:

Celestial Spike

After being hit with Celestial Spike Girgashiy will experience a temporary defense reduction which will increase the amount of damage that he takes from the incoming Judgment Blade attacks which will be indicated by him collapsing over on himself (aka kneeling) after being bound with spikes as seen in the image on the right.

Judgment Blade

Once Girgashiy has been hit with spikes, your blader(s) will want to get Judgment Blade ready while waiting for Girg to kneel so you don’t miss your chance to hit him before he gets back up. After that, the fight is just a wash, rinse, repeat cycle of: Wait for Hail > Shield > Spike > Blade.

  • Mineral Hail (used in all difficulties)
  • Staff Swing (used in all difficulties)
  • Holy Contagion (used in all difficulties)
  • Fanaticism (used in all difficulties)
  • Soul Absorption (used in Normal or higher difficulty)
  • Summon Monster (used in Very Hard difficulty)
